Her Gentlemen is the acoustic indiepop duo, founded by two graphic artists; Rizki Krisnadi  (Vocal, Instruments) and Ruth Pifania (Vocal). It was formed in Jarkarta, Indonesia in 2009.

The idea of making music and forming ‘Her Gentlemen’ came into Rizki’s mind after he finished reading a Japanese comic book, called  ”Detroit Metal City” A story of the timid young man who dreams of a career in ‘pop’ music; unfortunately, he’s ended up as the lead singer of a ‘death metal’ band. Negishi-kun, who is the main character in the story has became a role-model for  Rizki’s musical journey ever since. Rizki was also influenced by many Japanese musicians, such as Cornelius, Kahimi Karie, Hideki Kaji, and also many of Shibuya-Kei bands.

Rizki knows how to play guitar and write songs but lack for someone to sing his songs. Fortunately, he’s met ‘Fania’, his old high schoolmate. Rizki thought Fania’s got a magical voice, after he heard she sang his first song “First Sight”. At first, Rizki’s concept of Her Gentlemen was to make cheesy, cherished, and catchy music. However, he failed to do so after he broke up with his girlfriend. As a result, he started  to write unhappy songs, just like ‘I was happy (before you came)’

Riski and Fania thought the idea of making acoustic songs is the best and fastest way to express and show their feelings, no complication, no expensive musical gears – just acoustic guitar and piano. Trying to make everything simple, short, and honest …
